Background of the upazila


          During the Indian rule of Warren Hastings, today's upazila system was introduced as the police station for the purpose of suppressing the crime. Later, along with crime suppression, development activities were conducted around the thana. In continuation of this, the upazila system was started in 1983 with the aim of providing the benefits of development to the people of the upazila and the administrative decentralization of the thana of the thana and to the doorstep of the people. Originally, on 14 March 1983, Jaldhaka was declared as the administrative standard of the district and in the same year as the upazila was declared, but the history of Jaladhar is very ancient. Jaldhaka was included in Kamrupup state of Assam. Approximately 6th or 7th century, King Bhagudat of Kamrupa kingdom ruled this state. Jaldhaka, a river named Jaldhaka, was formed from Bhutan in Cooch Behar and it was carried out in the main stream of the Teesta river in this upazila. Many people believe that the river flows with the river Teesta and Karatoa. Jaldhaka was named after the river when it was covered by water and changed its course.
